Mustache March

Dang I almost want to grow one out just for the sake of that title, but I think the one time that I did should be enough reminder that I won't do it again. I was watching the videos from Ericks wedding when I grew it and it was rather... strange to watch me dance around with a mustache. Oh well. So the newest and greatest when it comes to my life is that I had to go to the hospital on friday! Just so you know, I'm fine. Trust me! It really wasn't a big deal but a preventative measure kept it from escalating to something bigger. Story goes, I was flying from oakland to eureka to cover a run. Long story made short, the aircrafts heater had issues and started to produce carbon monoxide. So there is an indicator that will change color if there is carbon monoxide present. I started to feel... strange and I noticed the indicator. So I called up dispatch en route and they told me to divert. About this time I was starting to have tunnel vision and seein spots so it was about time to end the flight. Got on the ground, started to feel better fortunately. But the company needs to cover there bum, so I went off to the hospital. Few hours of sitting around, find out my oxygen levels aren't where they are supposed to be and then I'm released. Ugh, it was such a long day and I was tired towards the end of it so I slept at the airport for a few hours before my flight. Glad thats all over with though. Here is a pic and I'm ending this segment of my blog because I'm trying to finish this up weeks after the event happened. lol

Transmission Flush? What's That?

Oh, that's that thing you have to do every 60,000 miles to prevent your transmission from blowing up...ummm, yeah, about that....

My transmission blew up. Literally.

Last weekend, as I pulled into the church parking lot for the dance, my transmission took a crap. So, I got to have my beloved MDX towed from the church parking lot last weekend. My car, in all it's beautiful-ness just didn't look right on the back of that tow truck. But, it wasn't so bad, I danced it up at the dance then I got to take a really fun drive with Joe the tow truck driver. Nice guy.

He spoke of various drunk Mormons he has known over the years and his "interesting" "view" on politics into the wee hours of the morning.

But, don't worry. It's only going to cost a cool $5,000.00 to get my car fixed. Chump change, right? I mean, who doesn't have a spare 5 grand sittin' around...

Oh, wait, I don't.

But some how I came up with the money. Now I just want my car back. In the mean time, my brother Bryan has been gracious enough to let me drive his souped up diesel truck which, I have to admit, is kind of fun!

When a guy looks over and sees this little blonde chick with over sized sun glasses behind the wheel of a lifted charcoal gray Cummings diesel truck they cant help but drool. And I cant help but laugh.

In addition to driving my brothers truck around, I have developed a new love for running everywhere I go, you know, pioneer style, with Ryder in the "handcart" aka jogging stroller.

The gym and Wal Mart are only a mile away, it takes me 10 minutes to jog there and I am pretty sure that is just as long as it would take me to get Ryder strapped into his car seat, drive there and get Ryder out of his car seat. So it's a win-win all around. I get my stuff done, burn the most renewable kind of energy, the chubs on my backside, Ryder and I sing Popcorn Poppin' on the Apricot Tree or Birdman on the way and I have also been known to stop and play at the park on the way home. Who can resist it with this beautiful weather...right!?

Anyway, just a friendly reminder to all you crazy kids with automatic transmissions out there...DON'T FORGET TO GET YOUR TRANSMISSION FLUSHED!!

Bet you $5,000.00 I wont make that mistake again!

(p.s. pic's of the new house coming soon to a computer screen near you!!)

Waiting for the Weight

I love open enrollment...I love open enrollment....(insert copious vomit motions here) I love open enrollment...keep saying it till I believe it....I love open enrollment.....

Okay, I exaggerate, it's not so bad. I mean, sure I work ikky long hours, but I also get to sell! The part of my job I LOVE. The sell...the game... I'm like a tiger waiting for my next 2-50 group to pounce on. Love it.

The BIGGEST (and I mean that both literally and metaphorically) problem with open enrollment is the effect open enrollment has on my seemingly growing backside.

A little math lesson for today kids:

Gluttonous chocolate consumption + Long hours + Denise ordering Debbie Wong takeout daily + no time for the beloved spin class + open enrollment stress= Sara's ace fitting (<) less than perfect her jeans.

There will be a test later.

So, I am gettin my ever growin booty back in gear and on the cycle seat at the gym every morning at 5am. (sendin' a shout out to loving "in-town" living)

Watch me.

No more waiting for the weight to come off because I burned "so many" calories sitting in my chair for 12 hours today.

That's right weight...just you wait.

p.s.~ Debbie Wong...you did me wrong.

The Right Place at the Right Time

Well, what can I say, I have been so frantically absorbed in open enrollment for work, moving, and enjoying every minute I have with my sweet little Ryder that blogging has sadly fallen by the wayside for a bit.

There is much to tell and I am especially excited to show off pictures of my new pad. (Which, by the way, pictures will be coming soon!) Since moving Ryder and I have really experienced an improved quality of life. We wake up in the morning, turn on Mickey Mouse Club House, make pancakes and sit down together to eat. There is no rush to get out the door now that we no longer have to make the hour drive into "town" (I love saying "in to town" makes me sound like such a hick). In addition to that, once I get off work in the evening we make a 10 minute drive and we're home. We play, cook dinner together and Ryder bathes in his swimming pool of a tub. I can honestly say I've never been happier or felt more at peace with my life. I really feel like I am in the right place at the right time. This is where we (Ryder and I) need to be.

Every night when I tuck Ryder into bed in his very own "big-boy" room we kneel down in prayer together and thank God for blessing us with such abundance. Words can not express my deep and sincere gratitude for the many ways my life has been blessed. I know that without God I would have and be nothing. He knows Ryder and He knows me and we have not been forgotten. That knowledge in and of itself is such a blessing.

One night a couple weeks ago, after Ryder and I had finished our nightly bedtime routine, I was feeling overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. Ryder, who is, much to my amusement, adamant that he gets to say the prayer at night, had just finished his bedtime prayer. In his little two year old voice with mispronounced words he thanked his Father in Heaven for "mommy and daddy and Lightning McQueen and mostly thank you for pa". It absolutely brought tears to my eyes.

After I rubbed his back for a bit, I kissed his check and stood up to leave the room, I stopped to close his blinds in his window and noticed that, on that clear night, because our house is perched up on a hillside, I could see the top of the temple all lit up. I had not noticed it before. But there it was, the temple, visible from my sweet little boys bedroom. What a blessing, and what a reminder of the things that we must aspire to everyday. What better view to give my son than that of the temple. For that, I am so grateful.

We have love and the spirit of God in our home. It's how I know we are right where we are suppose to be. Thank God for our many blessings. And thank God for giving me Ryder.
